Jane Smiley talked about her book Thirteen Ways of Looking at the Novel, published by Knopf. The author listed the chapters in her book and read from the second part of the book, which were entries about the novels she reads. Among the books she discussed were Daniel Defoe’s last novel, Roxana: Or the Fortunate Mistrses, and Samuel Richardson’s Pamela: Or Virtue Rewarded. Following her remarks, she responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
