Science Reporter: Suited for Space is a 1966 NASA TV program, one of 13 produced in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and WGBH Boston. This episode traces the development of space suits beginning with the Mercury program and ending with a look at a life support system prototype needed for the Apollo moon missions.

Commissioners Mignon Clyburn, Michael O’Rielly, Ajit Pai, and Jessica Rosenworcel talked about issues facing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Topics included competition in the cable industry and consolidation of media companies, broadband deployment and access, set-top boxes, and the roles of spectrum, privacy, and cybersecurity in the “Internet of Things.”

This session was co-sponsored by C-SPAN for “The Communicators.”

Executives from AT&T’s Entertainment Group, Mashable, FanDuel, and Periscope talked about enhancing consumer experiences and such topics as trends in live videostreaming and the future of service bundles.

Former Federal Communications Commission Chair Michael Powell gave the opening keynote address at at the Internet and Television Expo (INTX). Then panelists including news anchors and cable television executives discussed issues ranging from the FCC’s proposed set-top box rule to the changing landscape of television as well as the year’s presidential race and upcoming coverage plans for the Summer 2016 Olympic Games. Promotional video for the Olympics was shown and the Comcast’s video platform was demonstrated.

Federal Communications Commission Chair Tom Wheeler (D) talked about the cable industry, set-top boxes, and net neutrality. He was interviewed at the beginning of the closing general session of INTX: The Internet and Television Expo, sponsored by the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) May 16-18, 2016, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Jeffrey Immelt talked about business, innovation, the world economy, and his thoughts about the 2016 presidential campaign.

Secretary of State John Kerry delivered the commencement address to Northeastern University’s 2016 graduating class at TD Garden arena in Boston. He encouraged graduates to think globally about issues of climate change, poverty, and countering violent extremism. He also made mocking references to presumptive 2016 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
