Media & the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Chicago Democratic Convention, Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism hosted a panel discussion on how the media covered the chaotic presidential nominating convention, especially the street rioting and Chicago police response.

The Civil War: Robert E. Lee Indictment
Historian John Reeves discusses his book, "The Lost Indictment of Robert E. Lee," which recounts the June 1865 indictment against General Lee and other Confederate leaders for treason and war crimes. The document was missing for 72 years, and Lee and other Confederates eventually received amnesty from President Andrew Johnson. But Reeves contends the indictment's disappearance is symbolic of how Americans quickly forgot the legal and moral case against Lee, who soon became widely viewed as an American hero, with admirers in the South and North. The National Archives in Washington, DC hosted this talk.

Reel America: "The President: June 1968"
This look at the tumultuous month of June, 1968 is through the camera lens of the White House Naval Photographic Unit as it covered the activities of President Lyndon B. Johnson. The film covers the assassination and funeral of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, LBJ's push for tighter gun regulations, Vietnam War peace talks, work towards a nuclear non-proliferation treaty with the Soviets, and Chief Justice Earl Warren's retirement announcement.

 

Sunday 8pm & midnight ET
The Presidency: White House History & Design
Architecture professors from the United Kingdom and Ireland and White House historians talk about the design history of the White House -- and what changes, if any, the future may hold. This program was part of a symposium hosted by the White House Historical Association and focused on the history of British and Irish connections with the White House.
