The Civil War: The Battle of Gettysburg & Its Consequences
Historian Edward Ayers describes how civilians around Gettysburg experienced the battle, and the logistics of the long Confederate withdrawal back to Virginia. This talk was part of the annual Lincoln Forum symposium held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Lectures in History: Women During World War II
Texas Woman's University professor Katherine Landdeck teaches a class about the contributions of American women during World War II. She talks about how women on the home front were expected to write letters to soldiers, plant victory gardens, and work in factories. And she discusses the military options available to women.

 

Saturday 10pm & Sunday 4pm ET
Reel America: "A Day in Congress" - 1949
The new 116th Congress opens on January 3, with many senators and representatives new to Capitol Hill and a record number of women in the House. "A Day in Congress" is a 1949 educational film that explains how Capitol Hill worked during the 80th Congress, which included only eight women. The narrator traces the progress of the Agricultural Act of 1948 through committees, House and Senate compromise, and the signature of President Harry Truman that made the bill a law.

 

Sunday 8pm & midnight ET
The Presidency: Woodrow Wilson's Domestic Policies
Historians and economists discuss the 28th president's views on domestic policies, including women's and African American rights, banking and the Federal Reserve System. The Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. hosted this talk.
