Dana Sachs talked about her book, The Life We Were Given: Operation Babylift, International Adoption, and the Children of the War in Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, there were over 800,000 Vietnamese orphans in the country. The U.S. government launched Operation Babylift to fly these orphans out of Vietnam and bring them to awaiting families in the United States. Ms. Sachs spoke about some of the controversies surrounding the program and its effects on U.S. policy.
