In response to the violence between white nationalists and counterdemonstrators, President Trump gave a message to the press about the incident on Saturday. At the event, several clashes between protestors and counterdemonstrators erupted, with several minor injuries occurring, but as the rally dispersed, a car drove into a group of counterdemonstrators, killing one and injuring more than 30 people.
