In a 336-95 vote, the House passed legislation to fund the government past the midnight, November 17 deadline. The bill extends current funding in two phases. Funding for agencies covered by military construction, veterans affairs, agriculture, energy, water, and transportation would run through January 19, 2024, and agencies covered by the other eight annual appropriations bills would extend to February 2, 2024. The measure also includes a one-year extension of the farm bill program. Ninety-three Republicans and two Democrats voted against the measure. The bill would next go to the Senate. Lawmakers also worked on fiscal year 2024 funding bill for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and related agencies.
