The U.S. Senate met and conducted a period of Morning Business during which time members could speak on any topic. Members called for a quorum of Senators be present so they could conduct business. Following the quorum members spoke on the forthcoming budget resolution expected to arrive from the U.S. House of Representatives. The Senate also passed the Middle East Peace Extension: H.R. 2808, which extended authorities under the Middle East Peace Facilitation Act of 1994 until March 31, 1996. The Senate then stood in adjournment until 9am January 2nd.
