Ambassador Clovis Maksoud, Permanent Representative to the United Nations for the League of Arab States, spoke to the League at their annual “Year in Review” gathering. Maksoud talked about Arab-American relations, prospects for peace in the Middle East, and developments he hopes will occur in the upcoming year. The Ambassador talked about V.P. Quayle’s speech at the United Nations at which the V.P. indicated the U.S. desire to rescind the U.N. resolution of 1975 that states that Zionism is a form of racism. Maksoud also talked about the recent U.S. removal of the regime in Panama and his concern that this could become a pattern in other parts of the world. close
