Coinciding with the dedication of the National World War II Memorial the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage held a four-day “Tribute to a Generation: National World War II Reunion” on the National Mall in a series of tented pavilions and stages. One of the tents was called “Wartime Stories.” On this panel women talked about their service during World War II, and especially the challenges of being a woman in the armed services.
