Jason Kersten appeared on the “Diane Rehm Show” to talk about his book The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter (Gotham; June 11, 2009). The book recounts the criminal exploits of Art Williams, a counterfeiter who by using over-the-counter materials was able to forge the “most secure bill ever created,” a one-hundred dollar bill known as the 1996 New Note. Art Williams produced millions of counterfeit dollars over fourteen years until being caught by the Secret Service. The author talked about what led Art Williams to crime, how he came to counterfeit the supposedly secure 1996 New Note, and what led to his downfall. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications from listeners. close
