Former U.S. Senator Alan Simpson began his political career in 1964 when he was elected to the Wyoming State Legislature. During his time in the U.S. Senate, Simpson served as majority leader, assistant minority leader, and chair of the Veterans' Affairs Committee. Archivist Leslie Waggener shared Senator Simpson’s personal and political story through items held in his special collection at the University of Wyoming American Heritage Center in Laramie, Wyoming.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2019 LCV Cities Tour” in Toledo, Ohio, from October 5-9, 2019, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
