Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Richard Parker reacted to current issues including the Republican presidential candidates and Hilary Clinton’s legal concerns. In the newspaper roundtable, Tod Lindberg and Barbara Reynolds talked about current issues including the Iowa caucus. Susanna Widicus talked about the upcoming presidential elections by telephone. In the next segment, a clip was shown of Senator Ted Kennedy’s, D-MA, speech to the Center for National Policy. In the studio Sen. Kennedy expanded upon the speech and responded to viewer calls. In the next segment, Connie Morella talked about becoming the House Speaker during the House’s break. James Lack talked about the National Conference of State Legislators and the relationship between states and the federal budget. close
