Vice President Al Gore, Secretary Alexis Herman and others gathered to highlight continuing gender pay inequities. They stressed the impact of this problem on working women and their families and called for more government action to prosecute cases of wage discrimination. In his remarks, Vice President Gore announced the Clinton administration’s support for legislation which would give women compensatory damages when employers have a proven policy of pay inequity. Several of the speakers paid tribute to the recently deceased Bella Abzug. close
