The U.S. Senate met and took up a number of pieces of legislation. Senators voted on the Department of Defense Authorization Conference Report, which authorized appropriations for the department. They also took up debate on Internet Tax Freedom Act: S. 442. The act sought to establish a national policy against State and local government interference with interstate commerce on the Internet. Members also debated and voted on road construction in Alaska. Following the completion of the day’s business, the Senate stood in adjourned until 9:30am the following morning. close
