Five Court decisons were discussed, including insight into a case that will test the constitutionality of sobriety checkpoints. Reports included the decisions handed down in the cases of U.S. v. Verdugo, where the Court declared 6-3 that the constitutional prohibition against unreasonable search and seizure does not apply to foreign countries, and the 7-2 Maryland v. Buie decision which states that police officers may conduct protective sweeps in a home when executing arrest warrants. Also decided were two death penalty cases: Blystone v. Pennsylvania, where the Court decided 5-4 to uphold a state law mandating capital punishment; and the decision not to hear the death sentence appeal of a Missouri prisoner in Mallet v. Missouri. In separate interviews, Ms. Radecic and Mr. Lorence offered opinions on the Court’s decision to let stand the military’s ban on homosexuals. In this case, Ben-Shalom v.
