EPA Administrator, William Reilly, makes remarks to a meeting of the World Wildlife Fund. The World Wildlife Fund established a commission on the environment as a civilian watchdog program to examine the United States' environmental legislation and policies. At the commission’s first meeting, Mr. Reilly discussed the priorities of the Bush Administration’s environmental policies. Mr. Reilly stressed the important role the private sector and local governments must play in the preservation of the environment. He touched on ozone protection, the application of interest on foreign debts to the U.S. to environmental concerns, and the greenhouse gas reduction program, relating each of these environmental policies to other aspects of the administration’s priorities, such as energy conservation and the economy. close
