Mr. Podhoretz talked about the importance of the Biblical prophets and challenged the popular interpretation of their writings. Mr. Podhoretz argued that the prophets were highly political figures and that the prophetic literature has a definite conservative bent. He also suggested that were the prophets alive today, they would be against such things as the women’s rights movement, the gay rights movement, and multiculturalism. Mr. Podhoretz also talked about George Orwell, an atheist, who, according to Mr. Podhoretz, was doing God’s work without knowing it. Following his presentation Mr. Podhoretz took questions from members of the audience. close
