Mr. Friedman delivered a speech titled “American Foreign Policy after 9/11.” He is the author of Longitudes and Attitudes: Exploring the World After September 11, published by Farrar, Strauss and Giroux. The book is a collection of Mr. Friedman’s New York Times columns and diary entries written since September 11, 2001. Among the topics he addressed were the impact of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S., the Arab and Muslim world as a source of terrorism, the mentality of terrorists, and the role of Western foreign policy in fomenting terrorism. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
