Mr. Beall talked about his investigation of corruption in Baltimore County government that culminated in the resignation of Vice President Spiro Agnew. To avoid charges of extortion, tax fraud, bribery, and conspiracy, he resigned the vice presidency October 10, 1973, and pleaded no contest to a criminal charge of tax evasion for accepting bribes during his tenure as governor of Maryland. Following prepared remarks, Mr. Beall responded to questions from members of the audience. This event was held to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Vice President Agnew’s resignation. close
