Henri Lepage, director of a free trade lobbying organization in Paris, France, spoke at the Heritage Foundation to discuss the financial restructuring of Europe into a single unified trading block to be implemented in 1992. Mr. Lepage, a supporter of free trade in the global economy, argued in favor of an economic policy for Europe based on lowered tariffs and trade barriers. Mr. Lepage discussed the creation of the Institute Euro '92, his economic research and lobbying institution, which he said was the latest in a number of attempts to create ideologically based economic lobbying groups in France. He also discussed the implications of the economic restructuring of Europe, which include the creation of new political and economic institutions to handle the necessary regulations accompanying the new Europe. He answered audience questions. close
