Captors and Captives
Kevin Sweeney and Evan Haefeli talked about the book they co-authored, "Captors and Captives: The 1704 French and Indian Raid on Deerfield", published by University of Massachusetts Press. On February 29, 1704, a band of French and Indian raiders killed fifty Deerfield residents and took more than one hundred hostages, including women and children. Both writers responded to questions from the audience regarding the social, historical, and political effects of the attack. close
