Panelists discussed the use of public money to fund major league sports stadiums, as well as the results of these actions such as budget cuts for libraries, museums, recreation centers, transportation and other public services. Issues discussed included the power structures of cities, local coalitions for growth, corporate welfare, and media ethics. Also discussed were successful and unsuccessful strategies for promoting or preventing the construction of a new stadium. After their presentations, the authors responded to questions from members of the audience.
