Secretary of State Colin Powell and Secretary-General Kofi Annan spoke with reporters about the situation in Darfur. Mr. Annan called on the “Sudanese government to disarm militia in the region,” and note that he and Mr. Powell agreed on the need for international cooperation to “make resources available for humanitarian work” in Darfur. Sec. Powell then described his talks with the Secretary-General and spoke about improved international monitoring efforts in Darfur. Following their remarks, Sec. Powell and Secretary-General Anna responded to questions from members of the press. close
