The 1991 TransAfrica conference on foreign policy sponsored a forum on the Bush administration’s foreign policies concerning countries in Africa. Mr. Robinson quoted figures on the Bush administration’s 1992 budget proposals for foreign assistance for countries in Africa that requested $130 million for three tyrannies in Africa, namely Zaire, Malawi, and Kenya. For Bophuthatswana, Benin, and Namibia, all democracies in Africa, the Bush administration requested $30 million. The panel investigated the politics behind the Bush administration’s foreign policies concerning Africa and the higher financial outlays for anti-democratic countries in Africa, which contradicts the U.S.' stated foreign policies in other areas of the globe. close
