Witnesses testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the U.S.A. Patriot Act and the SAFE Act and the impact of this legislation on the War on Terror. They spoke about the relationship between these two laws and civil liberties. They also addressed the provisions of the Patriot Act that are scheduled to “sunset” in the coming year. Witnesses discussed technical aspects of the laws and their impact on law enforcement practices. The witnesses also responded to questions from the committee members. close
