Mr. Curtis, editor, and some of the contributors discussed the book, Patriotism, Democracy, and Common Sense: Restoring America’s Promise at Home and Abroad, published by Free Press Africa House and Rowman and Littlefield. Mr. Curtis talked about spreading democracy without war, the U.S. need for a stronger 21st century military, the need for multilateral diplomacy backed by force, and the need for a more equitable U.S. economic policy that rescinds tax cuts for wealthy. Other topics included the Iraq war, underdeveloped countries and world poverty, oil, and democracy. After their presentations the participants answered audience members' questions. close
