Participating by satellite connection, Mr. Lear announced that the Foundation is launching a multimillion dollar national advertising and grassroots campaign to urge senators to preserve the use of the Senate rule known as the filibuster in preventing votes on judicial nominations. The ad features Los Angeles firefighter Mr. Nenoni. Mr. Neas described the 200-year history of the Senate filibuster rule, as well as the current effort by Senate Republicans to limit its use. The participants answered reporters' questions. close
