Stephen Budiansky talked about his book Her Majesty’s Spymaster: Elizabeth I, Sir Francis Walsingham, and the Birth of Modern Espionage, published by Penguin Group. Sir Walsingham was the first spymaster in Elizabethan England and is widely recognized as being one of the fathers of modern espionage tactics. In his book Stephen Budiansky chronicled the life of the man who served as Queen Elizabeth I’s principle secretary and used his position to spy against Spain and France. The author discussed the role of principle secretary and innovations created by Sir Walsingham. Following his presentation, Mr. Budiansky responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
