Thomas Grooms talked about his book The Majesty of Capitol Hill, published by Pelican Publishing Company. He discussed the architectural history of one of Washington, D.C.'s oldest neighborhoods in his book. Mr. Grooms has owned a house on Capitol Hill since 1969 and documented new landmark buildings for the Office of the Chief Architect of the U.S. General Services Administration. The author, using photos of various buildings, described the many styles of both the residential and commercial areas of Capitol Hill, including the buildings that have preserved the original plans of Pierre L’Enfant, the man who laid out the city. Following his presentation, Mr. Grooms responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
