House Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Davis announced that the committee would not make a perjury referral to the Justice Department regarding professional baseball player Rafael Palmieri. The chairman explained that in a March 2005 hearing about steroid use in baseball, Rafael Palmieri testified under oath that he had never used steroids. In August 2005 Palmieri tested positive for steroids. Rep. Davis detailed the committee’s investigation of Palmieri that resulted in no evidence of perjury.
