After a meeting with President Bush, Senators Warner and McCain spoke to reporters outside the White House about the U.S. interrogation policy and the president’s decision to sign legislation proposed by Senator McCain adopting prisoner treatment guidelines set forth in the U.S. Army Training Manual. They talked about detainee abuse and the defense authorization bill, and the reluctance by some members of Congress and the administration to apply the standards to terror detainees. Following their remarks, they responded to questions and comments from the reporters. close
