The George Washington University Law School held a forum on the Bush administration’s detention policies and intelligence operations at the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. During the first part of the forum, former Guantanamo prisoners spoke via teleconference from London about their personal experiences while in detention by U.S. authorities and their treatment at prison facilities in Cuba. Their remarks were followed by a panel of legal experts and military personnel who talked about the legal basis for detentions, the role of the military in prosecuting suspected terrorists, and the use of torture and interrogation methods. The form concluded with remarks by Admiral Huston, a former Judge Advocate General for the U.S. Navy. close
