Two members of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet were interviewed about telecommunication issues.

Rep. Anna Eshoo discussed her vote against national video franchise legislation that passed the Subcommittee earlier in the week by a vote of 24-7. She also discussed her amendments on network neutrality.

Rep. Chip Pickering, vice chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, discussed the legislation passed by the subcommittee earlier in the week. The legislation was intended to establish a national franchise option to streamline entry into the marketplace and speed-up delivery of more competitive video choices for consumers; preserve the option for cable operators and localities to strike their own local franchise deals; and to create a level regulatory playing field for all wireline video providers.

The Communicators” is C-SPAN’s weekly series that examines the people and issues that shape telecommunications policy. close
