At an event titled, “Conference on Do Hurricane Disasters Demonstrate Need for Environmental Laws?” held at the University of Maryland School of Law, Former Secretary Babbit spoke about environment al law, population growth, land management, infrastructure improvement and engineering challenges, and developing future policies to both protect natural resources and foster economic growth. He was critical of past and present endeavors of the Army Corps of Engineers, particularly as they related to land and delta restoration following Hurricane Katrina. close
