Panelists talked about different approaches to international development aid. Among the topics they addressed were the effectiveness of programs operated by nongovernmental organizations, cooperative efforts between government and private aid efforts, and building future strategies based on lessons learned. They also focused on Mr. Easterly’s analysis of aid programs in The White Man’s Burden: Why the West’s Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good, published by Penguin Press. They answered questions from the audience. close
