Mr. Salvatore talked about the second edition of his book, Eugene V. Debs: Citizen and Socialist, published by University of Illinois Press. He described Debs' life (1855 - 1926) and his leadership of the U.S. Socialist Party. Debs was nominated by the Socialist Party five times as its presidential candidate. Mr. Salvatore talked about Debs' connection to the American labor movement and his support for the rights of workers and the American tradition of dissent. After his presentation the author responded to audience members' questions.
