President Bush addressed religious broadcasters about combating terrorism, promoting freedom, and the ideological struggle in the Middle East. Topics included the nature of the enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan and the tactics they use. He also talked about the progress of the troop surge in Iraq. He greeted audience members after his speech.

This was the first of several presidential speeches planned on the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan before the presentation of the Petraeus-Crocker report, the upcoming NATO summit, and the fifth anniversary of war in Iraq.

The convention was held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. close
