The National Cable Television Association (NCTA) held their annual convention in Los Angeles, CA. This program featured a panel entitled “Seeing is Believing TV Today & Tomorrow.” Prior to the panel a series of videos played to the audience on large screens that featured a number of television programs ranging from sports to politics to entertainment to news. Following opening remarks by Viacom President John Goddard and NCTA President James Mooney, NBC Nightline correspondent Jeff Greenfield a panel of television network executives. The panel discussed the future of cable programming, it’s recent growth and the potential direction of cable programming in light of mergers between groups like Disney, a traditional producer of content, and ABC, a traditional broadcaster of content. Panelists mentioned non-linear viewing, via VCR, and the growth of cable produced content as the future of television programming. close
