Billionaire and potential presidential candidate Ross Perot addressed the American Newspaper Publishers Association on his burgeoning presidential campaign. Mr. Perot, who has no experience in political leadership, has stated he would run for president in 1992 if his name was placed on the ballot in all 50 states. He discussed the origins of his candidacy, which stemmed from comments made on the “Larry King Show,” and claimed “a couple of tigers” from Perot Systems were called in to fix the nation’s telephone system when it suffered under the volume of telephone calls to Perot’s headquarters. He said the only way the American people can solve their problems would be to reassert their role as owners of the country. Following his prepared remarks, Mr. Perot responded to questions from the audience. close
