Donald Critchlow talked about his book The Conservative Ascendancy: How the GOP Right Made Political History (Harvard University Press: Nov 30, 2007). In his book Professor Critchlow chronicled the history of the modern Right over the last sixty years and described how each time they faced defeat they rebounded stronger than before. He also talked about the leadership tensions within the Republican Party, the legacy of President Ronald Reagan, his new book with Nancy MacLean, Debating the American Conservative Movement: 1945 to the Present (Rowman and Littlefield Publishers; March 30, 2009), and a previous book, Phyllis Schlafly and Grassroots Conservatism: A Woman’s Crusade (Princeton University Press; August 22, 2005). He was interviewed at the 2009 annual meeting of the Organization of American Historians at the Washington Convention Center in Seattle. close
