Clara Kramer talked about her book Clara’s War: One Girl’s Story of Survival (Ecco; April 21, 2009). In the book she recalls her twenty months in a hidden bunker in the basement of a German family’s home in Nazi-occupied Poland. The family of the Kramer’s housekeeper took in eighteen Jews after hearing of Jewish families being taken to the woods to be killed. Ms. Kramer, who was 15 at the time, kept a diary of her experience. Clara Kramer talked with her co-author Stephen Glantz and read passages from the book. They responded to questions from members of the audience. This event was part of the annual Book and Author Luncheon of the Greater Boston Chapter of the Brandeis National Committee, held at the Marriott in Newton, Massachusetts.
