Army Vice Chief of Staff Peter Chiarelli and other officials briefed reporters on efforts to address the number of Army suicides among soldiers, civilian employees, and family members. The Army reported 343 suicides in 2010, 69 more than in 2009. While active duty suicides decreased for the first time in six years, there was a significant increase reported in non-active duty suicides. close
