The Brookings Institution hosted a panel discussion examining the impact of the deficit reduction deal on American national security and foreign policy. They said tax reform that increases revenue and entitlement reform were essential to the successfulness of the newly-formed joint super committee. The bipartisan, 12-member board was charged with cutting the budget deficit by about $1.5 trillion by the next Thanksgiving. They also responded to questions from the audience. close
