The Defense Department held a retirement ceremony for General David Petraeus, who was to become director of the Central Intelligence Agency. General Petraeus served as the top commander in Iraq and Afghanistan, and also led the military’s Central Command. During his remarks about General Petraeus, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Mike Mullen said that General Petraeus had left Afghanistan “more secure and hopeful” than a year ago. close
