Democratic senators and representatives, local officials, gun violence victims, and others spoke to reporters about the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013. Senator Dianne Feinstein, the sponsor of the bill, said she foresaw an “uphill” congressional to passage of the bill. The legislation would restrict the sale, transfer, manufacturing, or importation of more than 150 specific firearms. It would not ban more than 2,250 firearms used for hunting or other sport, or assault weapons lawfully owned before the law’s enactment. close
