Future of Presidential Debates
“The Future of Presidential Debates in the American Electoral Process” was presented in the offices of the Commonwealth Club of California.
The co-chairmen of the Commission on Presidential Debates talked about the the history and future of presidential debates. The commission had produced all the general election presidential and vice presidential debates since 1987. The commissioners talked about of many of the past debates, evaluated the changes that were made for the 2012 debates, and discussed future changes to incorporate new technology for outreach to younger voters, possible future format changes, and the commission’s influence on other countries' debates around the world. They responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.
