Experts on Syria testified on the country’s civil war and the Obama administration’s approach to the conflict. Among the issues addressed were the flow of refugees to other countries, efforts to rid Syria of its chemical weapons, and U.S. assistance to Syrian opposition groups. Ranking Member Bob Corker (R-TN) said he was embarrassed by the Obama administration’s Syria policy, and its lack of support to the Syrian opposition. U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford in response to Senator Corker defended the administration, and added that ultimately, Syrians themselves have to resolve the conflict. close
