Scott Carrier talked about his book, Prisoner of Zion: Muslims, Mormons, and Other Misadventures, in which he chronicles his journey to Afghanistan. Following the attacks on September 11, 2001, Mr. Carrier traveled to Afghanistan to see if he could learn for himself about the people who lived there. He said he discovered that war was not going to be the best course of action, and argued that, like the Mormon pioneers of Utah, military action does not work against religious principles.
