Politicians and civil rights organizations leaders talked about the demographic and political changes in the South in the 50 years since civil rights activists travelled to Mississippi in the 1964 “Freedom Summer” campaign to register African Americans to vote. They discussed the release of the “True South” report, which examines contemporary Southern voting and registration issues.
